My Approach to Teaching

Gorslas School of Piano

Gorslas School of Piano is run by Janet Wynne Chiaro.

I am an experienced Piano teacher and an associate of the London College of Music (ALCM). My approach to teaching is to encourage pupils to enjoy music and, in particular to love playing the piano as much as I do. I am flexible, adopting an individual approach to each pupil depending on the pupil's requirements.

I would also like to regard myself as a fun teacher.. see for yourself by having a look at some of my pupils' comments on the testimonial page!!

Pupils will be taught initially the rudimentary basics of sight reading, rhythm and expression. I teach classical and light music, normally in weekly sessions from 1/2 to 1 hour.

Many of my students sit grading exams (through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music- ABRSM ). I,myself, sat all the piano grades before attaining diploma status at the age of 16. However, this is by no means essential; there are many ways for students to monitor their progress.

I teach children from the age of six onwards. I also enjoy teaching adults. Some of my adult students have played piano in the past and have come to me to refresh their skills ; others had not played before coming to me .

In my experience students are capable of learning at any age; it just needs a bit of commitment. With learning to play the piano, you really do get out what you put in.

l am a welsh speaker and can teach in either language.

I am also actively involved in local community music events including the Urdd Eisteddfod and other regional competitions, and am a keen singer.I like to encourage pupils to get involved in musical activities in their school and in the community.
